Production Steps

Overview

Production steps are the core of the Pilot case management system, defining the workflow for each case. They are automatically generated based on the product's default production template when a product is added to a case.

Each production step includes:

  • Step Name: A descriptive name for the step.
  • Assigned Workstation: The workstation responsible for completing the step.
  • Assigned vs Actual Technician: If there is an assigned technician on a step, it was assigned automatically by Pilot. However, assigned technicians are just a recommendation that is a part of our production schedule. The actual technician that performed the work, which may or may not be the same technician, is tracked separately.
  • Assigned Date and Time: The date and time when the step is scheduled to be started.
  • Status: The current status of the step (e.g., Not Started, In Progress, Completed)

Production steps can be viewed and managed within the case details, allowing for real-time tracking of progress and resource allocation.

How production steps work

Production steps are automatically scheduled based on the sequence, duration, and estimated days. Pilot calculates technician capacity to determine assignments, and steps are linked to specific workstations and can be assigned to users working at those workstations.

To learn more about creating and managing production steps, refer to the Operations Flow section in the documentation, which provides detailed instructions on how to set up and configure production steps for your specific needs.

Tracking Production Schedule

There are 3 ways to complete a production step:

  1. From the individual case page, where users can mark the step as started or completed.
  2. From the Technicians' View, where technicians can see and manage their assigned steps.
  3. By scanning a step barcode in Bulk Tools.
