Technicians View (My Work)

Overview

My Work is the production hub where technicians manage and track their assigned tasks in a ticket-based system. This page provides a streamlined interface for viewing, claiming, and completing production tasks across different workstations.

Access to this page requires the View permission under Cases → My Work.

Page Layout

The My Work page is organized into two main sections:

Assigned Tasks

Displays all tasks currently assigned to you (or all users if you have the appropriate permissions). Each task appears as a card showing:

  • Case number and task name
  • Case Pan number
  • Patient name
  • Due date

Unassigned Tasks

Shows the pool of tasks that are ready to be claimed but haven't been assigned to any technician yet. This section is only visible to users with the Read unassigned tasks permission.

Permissions

My Work has six permissions that control what users can see and do on this page. All permissions are located under Cases → My Work:

PermissionDescription

Read tasks of othersAllows viewing tasks assigned to other technicians, not just your own.
Assign tasks to othersAllows assigning tasks to other users. Useful for production managers who need to distribute work.
Self-assign tasksAllows claiming unassigned tasks from the task pool.

Implied Permissions

The View permission includes the ability to view case details, leave comments, upload files, and manage production tasks for tasks you can access.

Managing Tasks

Assigning Tasks

Tasks can be assigned through multiple methods:

  1. Manual Assignment: Click on a task and assign it to a specific technician

  2. Self-Assignment: Click the task card when it's unassigned (requires Self-assign tasks permission)

  3. Bulk Assignment:

    • Select multiple tasks using checkboxes
    • Click Actions → Assign in the top right corner
    • Choose the technician
  4. Auto-Assignment on Start: A task is automatically assigned to you when you click Start

  5. Auto-Assignment on Finish: If a task wasn't assigned, finishing it assigns it to you

Starting and Finishing Tasks

Each task card has two action buttons:

  • Cancel: Removes the task assignment (returns it to unassigned pool)
  • Finish: Marks the task as complete

When you finish a task:

  • The task disappears from your workstation view
  • The next task in the workflow becomes available (if applicable)
  • The task is automatically assigned to you if it wasn't already

Barcode Scanning

For high-volume production, you can use barcode scanning for more efficient task management:

  • Scan task ID barcodes to start tasks in bulk
  • Scan task ID barcodes to finish tasks in bulk
  • This is a faster alternative to manually clicking Start and Finish buttons

Access scanning via the Scan In and Scan Out buttons in the top right corner.

Filtering and Organization

Search and Filters

Use the search and filter tools at the top of the page:

  • Search: Find tasks by case number, case pan, or task name
  • Case due date: Filter tasks by their due date
  • Task Type: Toggle between production tasks and exception tasks
  • Workstation: Filter by specific workstation (or view all if you have permission)

Grouping Options

Organize your tasks by:

  • Don't Group By: Shows all tasks in a flat list
  • Technician: Groups tasks by assigned technician
  • Task Name: Groups tasks by the name of the production task

Actual vs. Upcoming Tasks

Toggle between two views:

  • Actual: Shows only tasks that are ready to work on (previous workstation tasks have been completed)
  • Upcoming: Shows all tasks, including those that aren't ready yet because previous workstation tasks haven't been finished
Production Visibility

Use the Upcoming toggle to see what's coming down the pipeline and plan your workload accordingly.

Best Practices

  • Self-assign strategically: If you have self-assign permissions, claim tasks that match your skills and current workload
  • Use barcode scanning: For high-volume production, scanning barcodes is significantly faster than manual clicks
  • Check upcoming tasks: Toggle to "Upcoming" periodically to see what work is in the pipeline
  • Add comments: Use the activity tab to communicate issues or updates to other team members
  • Group by technician: Production managers should use this view to balance workloads across the team
  • Upload files: Add photos or documents directly to cases when documenting work or issues
