Billing Labs

Overview

A billing lab is en entity that has financial activity - sends out invoices, accepts payments, and issues credits. For majority of labs, there's only one entity – the lab itself. Sometimes, however, you may have multiple distinct client bases that warrant a different billing entity.

Common situations where this is true:

  1. You are a milling center for other labs but also have clients that are doctors. Here, you have 2 distinct client bases: labs and doctors.
  2. You have two or more distinct client bases that warrant different accounting systems.

How Pilot Handles This

  • In Pilot, you can create multiple billing labs by navigating to Admin -> Billing Labs. There's always one default billing lab.
  • During billing account creation, you can specify which billing lab that account will belong to. All activity for that account will belong to the billing lab.
  • Access our reporting suite to get information about the financial activity per your billing lab.
